About 24fire · DDoS protection

DDoS protection that just runs

Every 24fire server is protected against DDoS attacks – with in-house filtering in NTT Frankfurt and PletX in Skylink. Multi-layered, automatic and at no extra cost, with no configuration needed.

Protection that is already on board

DDoS attacks try to take your server down by flooding it with requests. 24fire absorbs that at both locations – active, multi-layered and with nothing for you to set up.

How the protection works

From the first packet to a clean data stream – the same flow runs in the background at both data centers.

  1. 1

    Monitoring

All incoming traffic is analysed continuously.

  2. 2

    Detection

Suspicious patterns are automatically identified as an attack – based on signatures and thresholds.

  3. 3

    Filtering

Malicious traffic is filtered out – at the network edge with PletX, directly in our own network with the 24fire filters.

  4. 4

    Protection

Your server only receives clean traffic and stays reachable – with no manual intervention.

Two locations, two protection approaches

Both locations are fully protected – the technology behind it differs. Here is how, and which servers run where.

In-house filtering

NTT FRA1 Germany

Frankfurt am Main, Germany

In NTT FRA1, 24fire filters DDoS attacks with its own infrastructure directly inside its own network – with no detour through external filter providers. That keeps packet round-trips short and the data under German jurisdiction.

Ideal for

  • Performance-critical workloads
  • German data location
  • Lowest added latency
PletX

Skylink Netherlands

Eygelshoven, Netherlands (near Aachen)

In Skylink, PletX edge filtering protects your servers: malicious traffic is sorted out at the network edge before it reaches the server – automatically and multi-layered.

What the protection stops

From a blunt bandwidth flood to a targeted hit on your application – all common layers are covered.

Volumetric attacks

UDP and ICMP floods as well as amplification/reflection attacks that aim to saturate your line.

Protocol attacks

SYN floods and other attacks on the network and transport layer (L3/L4).

Application attacks

HTTP floods and attacks on the application layer (L7) that hit individual services.

Included, no extra cost

Part of the price at both locations – no extra fees, no add-on.

Automatic & around the clock

Protection is always on and kicks in without any manual intervention.

IPv4 & IPv6

Protection for your modern connectivity across both protocols.

Frequently asked questions

These questions came up often among our customers. If you have further questions, do not hesitate to contact us!

Yes. DDoS protection is included at both locations – at no extra cost and with no configuration.

In NTT Frankfurt, 24fire filters with its own infrastructure directly inside its own network; in Skylink (NL), PletX edge filtering takes over. Both work multi-layered and automatically.

No. The protection is active by default and requires no setup.

Volumetric attacks (e.g. UDP and ICMP floods), protocol attacks on the network and transport layer (L3/L4) and application attacks (L7).

As little as possible: in NTT Frankfurt there is no detour through third-party networks because 24fire filters itself. In Skylink, PletX filters right at the network edge.
